Important Information

  • Fair fees are $25 individual project, $35 team project
  • Entry forms, completed forms are due by Monday, February 13, 2023.
  • Checks must be made out to Nicholls State University or Money Order only.  No cash accepted.
  • Please provide one school representative from your school to contact for missing forms and/or information.
  • A maximum of three (3) projects per category can be accepted from a parish fair or a total of thirty (30) projects per school provided a parish fair is not held.
  • The Region 10 Science Fair and the Louisiana State Science Fair follow all rules and guidelines established by the ISEF.  Please refer to the ISEF website.
  • It is the participants responsibility to make sure the correct forms (ISEF) are completed and submitted for judging. Please refer to the ISEF website.

9:00 am – 9:30 am — Check-In and Project Setup in Student Union Ballroom
9:45 am – 11:15 am — Judging (each exhibitor must be present until judging ends)
11:30 am or after judging is completed — Awards Ceremony in Student Union Ballroom
**Projects must be removed immediately after awards ceremony.

Notary Public Exam
Prep Course through

Notary Public Exam Prep                        $450

This 52 hour course is offered via Zoom Video Conferencing.  This course is for anyone living in the Nicholls State University area.  It is an introduction to notary public fundamentals, and our experienced instructor has a pass rate higher than the state average.

For this course, the participant must have their device with broadband access, camera and sound.  You will use a Zoom link to access each week's class from your device, which can be your computer, laptop, iPad or cell phone.  You MUST download the Zoom to your device prior to the class.  A link will be sent from the course instructor before the class start date to join face to face class remotely using the Zoom video conferencing technology.

The rumors are true, the Notary Exam is DIFFICULT. If you want a shot at passing the statewide notary exam, this is your chance! This 52 hour course is an introduction to notary public fundamentals.  The instructor, attorney & notary Jennifer Brown, distributes significate course study guides and materials to assist in your preparation for the exam. Necessary materials: The test is based on the Louisiana Secretary of State's newest edition of "The Fundamentals of Louisiana Notarial Law and Practice", available at www.sos.louisiana.gov or call (225) 922-0507 for further information. You must have this book on the first day of class.

Notary Public Exam Prep: Extensive Review $85

Do you want to re-take the Notary Exam, but need a quick refresher before the test? Then four-hour extensive review is for you. The instructor, Jennifer Brown, will conduct this course, going over: exam format, potential content, exam tips and last minute study suggestions. This extensive review cannot take the place of the thorough study or review needed to be successful for the Notary Examination, but it will be helpful for those willing to give it one more try!

If you are registered for the Notary Exam Prep course than this is a part of that class. No need to register for this too.

This course is offered via Zoom Video Conferencing. You will be given a zoom conferencing link to join to the class. This course is for anyone living in the Nicholls area.

International Sugar Institutes -- 2022

Nicholls State University offers two cane sugar institutes each year during the summer. They include the  International Sugar Cane Refiners' Institute, which began in 1978, and the International Raw Cane Sugar Manufacturers' Institute, which began in 1985. The success of these institutes can be contributed to many factors such as timely topics, excellent professors, Cajun food, southern hospitality and especially the support of organizations such as the Sugar Industry Technologists, American Society of Sugarcane Technologists, the American Sugarcane League and of course the many sugar companies, mills and refineries around the world. All these programs have the same format, two weeks of intense day long discussions on the various and timely topics of each aspect of sugar production.

Nicholls State University offers two cane sugar institutes each year during the summer. The institutes are scheduled so that participants may enroll in one or two programs in a given summer. An added benefit of these short courses has been the many friendships and exchanges of ideas among the students.

Nicholls State University is happy to have contributed to the growth and success of the world sugar industry and is extremely proud to be a leader in world sugar education.

Housing is provided in the University residence hall and is included in the fees. Local motels are available for those who do not wish to stay in the residence hall. Commuter fees would then be applicable. Please make checks payable to: Nicholls State University. There is a $25 additional fee for all payments made by wire transfer. Participants name and company must be listed on all wire transfers.
